Agumon's hoodie

Since it's raining outside all the time and since I hurt my leg while playing badminton and since I wanted to do this for a long time, I finally made a hoodie for my Agumon plush. I don't know if you remember but in the first season, episode 32, Agumon (and other Digimon) come to the real world and since they're scary/not human/not animal looking they dressed up to cover their look. Tai gives Agumon one of his (of course blue) hoodie (see the pictures bellow). I saw on tumblr (I think) that someone actually sew their Agumon's plush the same hoodie and I wanted to sew it too.

I believe it's actually pretty easy if you know how to sew. I'm a beginner - I have a sewing machine and almost zero experience with it. I always wanted to learn but besides my personal sewing projects I didn't use it at all.

Okay, so first of all, I went to the fabric store where I bought a blue fabric - made of cotton and polyester. It's supposed to be a little bit elastic - since I made the hoodie a little bit too small it was a good thing that the fabric was elastic so I could push Agumon through it. Besides the fabric I also bought a red rope to use it for the hoodie. All the other stuff I had already at home - sewing kit, sewing machine, Agumon plush ...

First I checked online how to start my sewing machine (I didn't use it for so long so I kinda forgot). Afterwards I searched online (everywhere) for a hoodie pattern. I was a bit confused because I didn't know which pattern to use because Agumon doesn't have the same body (and head) size as humans, dolls ... I used the most common and probably the easiest pattern I could find. I changed the size of it and if you want to sew the same hoodie just improvise with the size. I was constantly cutting the fabric to get the perfect hoodie size.

Since I'm not that familiar with sewing I watched Melly Sew's blog/video to sew the hoodie step by step. It's really helpful so check it out here!. I made a few changes - for example, Agumon's plush is so small so I didn't made the waistband and the cuffs. I just sew around it so it looks like I actually made it but it's just a stitch. And I also didn't put the front pocket on it because Tai's hoodie doesn't have it either - I was researching that hoodie a lot, haha.

I know I have said it already a million times but since I don't know how to sew properly my stitches are not really straight but luckily you can't see them a lot to notice it. I also had a problem with the fabric, because at some points it's so thin that my machine sucked it up. That's the reason I had to create the front part of the hoodie twice. So if you decide to sew it too, be careful with the sewing. At first I thought it's gonna be easier since the hoodie is so small and you don't have to actually sew a lot. But since it's so small sometimes I didn't really see what I'm sewing together. In the end I just fixed some stitches by hand and put the red rope through the hoodie - I don't like the material of it so I will probably change it when I find the right material.

I also forgot to check the time when I started with it but telling by the pictures I would say I needed 2 hours for the hoodie. Not bad for a beginner (when searching for a pattern I saw a post about making a hoodie and it said "not suitable for beginners" so I was pretty scared of how it will all turn up.) - I'm actually pretty satisfied with the results! I made the hoodie a little bit too small so I had to use a lot of force to put Agumon in it so I guess he will have it on forever. And here are pictures of Agumon in a hoodie from anime(up) and from "real life":
