Season 01 (& Digimon Tri) Relationships
TAI YAGAMI AND SORA TAKENOUCHI
Since I own a Taiora page I won't write a lot about their relationship here, because you can find a closer look at Taiora
at my Taiora section. Tai and Sora are the only ones who know each other well before they went to the digital world. They were
in the same class when they both still lived in Hikarigaoka. They also play soccer together - in the same club (they probably
played soccer for school). At the beginning of the season they talk and discuss things with each other more than with
others. They care for each other and stuff like that. They are really great friends. Time to time there are moments when we
aren't so sure anymore if they love each other as friends or something more. But in the second season Sora stopped with soccer and
they don't go to the same school anymore and Sora kinda lost her interest in Tai. She replace Tai with Matt and in the end she
also marry him. Tai had to deal with it just like a grown-up would. Also Agumon saw that he really grown up and that he's not as he was
when they first met.
In Digimon Tri their relationship stays the same. They are in the same high school, same age, dealing with the same stuff. In the Tri movies it's not really focused on just their relationship but it's more about the dynamic of the trio - Matt, Tai, Sora. As usual Matt and Tai like to fight with each other and Sora is always there to try to calm them down. Like she is with the rest of the group she always worries about the two of them too. And so do Tai and Matt about her. When she was down they noticed and try to console her even though they probably made a bigger mess.
In Last Evolution Kizuna it seems like their relationship is still good but since Sora doesn't participate in the Digimon activities anymore they probably don't see eachother as much as before. In the first story of 20th memorial stories is shown that Sora knows whats going on with Tai so they are probably still in contact. Sora was always taking care of others and thinking about them so I doubt this has changed. She still believes in her friends and support them even though they don't see each other that much.
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.
TAI YAGAMI AND MATT ISHIDA
At the beginning of season 1 Tai didn't really get along with Matt. They fought always and they disagreed all the time and they
were really annoying from time to time. Tai and Matt didn't know each other before the camp. First Tai didn't know that Matt and T.K.
were brothers, he realized that T.K. always called Matt "Onii-chan" which means older brother.
Actually, he was really curious why T.K. and Matt have different last names if they are brothers. I don't know if any of the DigiDestined knew (besides
Matt and T.K. of course)
because when Tai asked Sora about it, she didn't know either.
Tai: Sora. Takeru calls Yamato "Onii-chan", but those two have different last names, don't they?
Sora: Yeah.
Tai: Why?
Sora: I don't know.*
The first time when Tai and Matt fought was because of Gabumon's pelt - Tai wanted to took it from him, because he wanted to use it as a blanket, but Gabumon didn't like the idea. Matt wanted Tai to stop so he pushed him a little which made Tai angry. But later they both apologized to each other.
Tai: Hey Gabumon. Let me borrow your pelt to use as a blanket. I've been dying to see what you look like underneath that. Let me see!
Gabumon: Anything but that!
Matt: Stop that!
Tai: What are you doing?
Matt: Can't you see he doesn't like it?
Tai: you didn't have to push me because of that!**
Matt and Tai sometimes (or often) disagree with the plan. For example when Tai wanted them to go on the mountain because he thought that that they can see the whole digital world from there. But it would be a little dangerous to get there. Matt didn't want to go there because he didn't want to put everyone in danger. He also often says that Tai is reckless.
Tai: We won't get anywhere if we kept running away like you.
Matt: You think I'm gonna quilty follow along with your recklessness and get everyone in danger?***
As you probably know Matt really loves T.K. and he was really scared because Devimon separated them. He thought that T.K. needs him and and he wanted to find him as soon as possible. When Tai found Matt they were actually glad to see each other again. Matt wanted to find T.K. and the others but Tai wanted to stay on the island, because it was moving and he thought that the island will bring them to the rest of the digital world pieces. Because of that, they started to fight, but when they both fall of the cliff Tai caught Matt and he didn't want to let him go, he said that he would rather die than let him go.
Matt: That insensitivy of yours is what pisses me off.****
Tai: I won't let go, even if we end up dying!*****
Matt is the cool type of a person. He doesn't show his feeling very much (except if something is wrong with T.K.) and he also act a little more mature than Tai. And that noticed even their digimon.
Agumon: Yamato is so mature.
Gabumon: Well, more than Taichi anyway.******
When a lot of Digimon died for DigiDestined they were all sad. Mimi didn't want to fight anymore, but Tai did. He wanted to revenge all of their Digimon friends. He wasn't sure and he didn't even know why all the others didn't want to fight and revenge them. Matt tried to explain to him that, but not on peaceful way.
Matt: Taichi! Try to consider other people's feelings for a change!
Tai: What do you mean?
Matt: What you say is the right thing for us to do, I'll give you that. But knowing what the right thing to do it doesn't mean we can just push our feelings aside and be done with it!
Tai: It's not wrong of me to act this way, is it?*******
Many evil Digimon uses their relationship. For example when Cheerimon wanted to make rivals of Tai and Matt. He said to Matt that he needs to defeat his rival if he wants to be better. When Matt didn't know who his rival should be, Cheerimon told him to look in the river and he'll see who his rival is. When he looked in the river he saw Tai. First, he didn't believe it, but later he fought with Tai (actually their Digimon did). After that Matt decided to leave the group because he needed some time alone.
Matt: Taichi is ... my rival ...? Sorry to disappoint you, but I've never considered that of him, not even once!********
When Tai was fighting Piedmon he didn't want any other to fight with him except Matt. Matt wasn't there, but Tai sent Sora and T.K. to get him. WarGreymon and Tai were already almost defeated when Matt came. Tai was really happy to see him and Matt realized what a true friendship is.
Tai: You're finally here. I wanted all this time for you to get here!
Matt: Taichi ...
Tai: I knew you'd come.
Matt: Thank you for believing in me. But I'm sorry I was so late. Taichi, you're my true friend! I won't let your friendship be in vain!*********
In season 2 they stay very good friends. When Davis and T.K. were fighting and Kari and Yolei wanted to separate them Tai and Matt told them to let them fight. And if they wouldn't fight so much (in season 1 :P) they wouldn't be really good friends as they are now. They are there for each other in the second season too, even though Matt stole Sora from Tai (:P).
In Digimon Tri they are still very good friends but in the middle of a conflict. It starts in the first movie when they were fighting against Alphamon and Tai could see all the damage their fights caused the real world. Tai wasn't sure that what they are doing is the right thing which made Matt angry since he needed the Tai he was before (you know the season 1 Tai who is ready to fight and always for action?). Matt starts to see Tai as vulnerable because of it and thinks Tai is only running away from his fears. This fight goes on and on till the end when they are both ready to fight to save both worlds. Even in between when Tai is supposedly dead we can see Matt a bit sad and still a little bit angry at him. And when Matt is talking to Agumon who doesn't remember anything because of the reboot about Tai we can see that the whole anger comes out of Matt expecting too much of Tai.
Matt: About the other day. I shouldn't have got angry, but you need to pull yourself together, too. Infected Digimons could appear at any time. Still hanging up? It's not like you. Not like you used to be.
Tai: I can't help it. I'm not what I was. Now I see more and understand less. I'm not sure if what we're doing is right. Or maybe ... we're doing wrong. I know only we can do it. But it's not that simple.
Matt: That's just running away.**********
Agumon: Yamato doesn't talk about Taichi at all. You guys don't get along? The whole Digimon Tri arc is pretty much about Tai and Matt's relationship. It's something that I missed in the second season. The old Digidestined were growing up and we didn't see much of them together. When watching the second season the first time it was a little hard to believe that they are still such good friends as they were in the first one. But here we can see them hanging out a bit more.
Matt: Well ...
Izzy: Actually, they get along well.
Matt: No, we don't.
Agumon: You don't like him?
Matt: I don't hate him. It's just .. I expect too much of him.***********
In Last Evolution Kizuna we can see Tai and Matt are getting along well as usuall. Now that they are a bit older we can see them hanging out, drinking beer, talking about their life situations and of course the two of them are still part of Digimon related activities. They are both dealing with the same kind of stuff (they are both unsure about their future's path and they both loose their Digimon partner at the same time) so they rely on each other for support and help. Even though they are all so busy with adult life they still find time for eachother.
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.

TAI YAGAMI AND IZZY IZUMI
Before Matt became one of two main characters Tai, Sora and Izzy are the head of the group. Tai and Izzy get along very well
if there is everything O.K. with Kari. Otherwise, Izzy and Matt are only ones Tai can argue with really bad. There are some
moments Tai wants to hit Izzy, but he never actually does. He just grabs his shirt and yells at him. These sorts of things
only happen in season 1, in season 2 they are very good friends. Izzy thinks really good about Tai and so does Tai about Izzy.
Tai isn't like Izzy. Izzy is a smart child who acts really mature - more than his classmates anyway (if you compare Mimi with him ;D).
When Tai started to act really strange, because he gets his crest, Izzy told other DigiDestined that this isn't like him.
Izzy: During club activities, Taichi-san was always nice to us younger members.*
When DigiDestined decided to put Tai in charge as a leader Izzy told them that he doesn't have problems with it that he always believed in Tai.
Izzy: I've always believed in Taichi-san before this, in any case.**
Izzy and Tai are good friends. I think that they saw each other more times than Tai and Matt did after their adventure in the digital world. Izzy really trusts Tai and so does Tai. Even in the second movie when something went wrong Izzy came to Tai. They stopped hanging out much when they are in the real world but they still stay friends. In the second season and the Digimon tri their relationship doesn't really change. They are still the same just a little more mature. The same goes for the Last Evolution Kizuna, they are both busy with their own lifes but they both still participate in anything Digimon related so they are constantly in contact.
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.

TAI YAGAMI AND MIMI TACHIKAWA
Oh, that many Michi fans...Tai and Mimi have a completely different personality. Mimi is like a princess and Tai is
much more sporty and too much of a leader. I think Mimi wants to be freer, she is always traveling... Otherwise, they
are friends prepared to help each other. Because of Mimi often being far away no one is that attached to her. (except of
Yolei :P). Mimi is younger than Tai and sometimes her actions are really spoiled, but that's because she is still a child.
But sometimes Tai doesn't look at her like she was younger and he expects her to act more mature. For example when their Digimon
friends died and Tai wanted to fight, to revenge them, Mimi didn't want to fight and Tai was really surprised that others don't want to fight.
But through season 1 both Tai and Mimi grew up and became more mature. Mimi stopped whining all the time. When they were talking about their new leader Mimi was okay with Tai being one. After the adventure in the digital world they stopped being so close, but they're still friends. When Mimi went on Hawai in the second movie she sent a postcard to Tai. But according to his reaction when his mother gave the postcard to him, he didn't know that she was there. She travels a lot, so they don't see much. In season 2 she lives in New York but in Digimon Tri she comes back to Tokyo. They still get along very well. It's the same in Last Evolution Kizuna, Mimi is still around the world a lot so she doesn't see Tai and the others a lot but she makes sure she is still in contact with them and supports them even if she is on the other side of the world.
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.
TAI YAGAMI AND JOE KIDO
Joe is the oldest in the DigiDestined group and I think that they all respect that, even Tai. Because he is the oldest he often
thinks that he needs to take care of others and not to put them in danger. That happened for example when Tai wanted to go to check the
mountain but Matt didn't agree with him, so they just stayed in front of the mountain and went to sleep. And since Joe is the oldest he
thought that he needs to check the mountain by himself. He wrote a message about in on the ground (in the sand). Sora was the first who
found the message and she woke up Tai and told him about it. They both decided to go after Joe and save him if he is in danger.
Tai: We're here to save ya!
Joe: Taichi! Sora!*
Even though Joe is the oldest he isn't the most heroic or brave, but he is really smart. Since they all know that they never expect him to react any differently than usual and when he acts "unusual" they notice it. Even Tai. That happened for example when T.K. was attacked by Vegiemon and Joe jumped on him to save T.K..
Tai: That was unusually heroic of you, Jyou.
Joe: You didn't have to add "unusually" to that.**
As I already mentioned 100 times, Joe is the oldest in the group. When Joe gets the cards that will bring them in the real world he gave them to Tai, because he believes in him.
Joe: I'll let you handle this.
Tai: Wh-what's this all of a sudden?
Joe: I'm not saying I don't want the responsibility. It's because I believe in you.***
They both have a good opinion about each other and that doesn't change in season 2. But Joe is really busy all the time so I don't think that they see each other very often.
In Digimon Tri, Joe is as busy as always with his school which irritates some of the DigiDestined. And if you think about season 1 Tai I think he would be one of them. But growing up made him understand Joe more. Even though Joe wasn't there to fight in the beginning Tai knew it was because there are things Joe doesn't want to face right now and Tai didn't want to push him to face those things.
Kari: Joe-san might be seeking a solution. Taichi, why not talk to Joe-san?
Tai: Leave it be.
Kari: Taichi ...
Tai: There are some things he doesn't want to face now.
Kari: Doesn't want to face? Like that he's one of the digidestined?
Tai: If I talk to him, then he might have to face that.****
In Last Evolution Kizuna Joe is busy as ever. The group is still in contact through their group chat but they don't see each other that often since Joe doesn't participate in Digimon activities that much. He is in his fifth year of medical school and Tai and the others understand why he is absent so much.
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.

TAI YAGAMI AND T.K. TAKAISHI
Tai's and Matt's relationship doesn't affect the friendship between T.K. and Tai. Tai is much better with small
children then Matt. T.K. sees him as a second older brother. When Tai went to the real world and no one really knew where he is
they all separated. When Tai came back to the real world he first found T.K.. He was alone, without Matt. He said that no one really likes
him because he is young, the youngest and because he cries a lot. He believes that even his older brother Matt doesn't like him anymore.
He thought that Matt started hating him because he talked a lot about Tai (for example, he wanted to find him but Matt was against it ...).
And Matt didn't even like him to talk about Tai that much. And because of that he also asked him to be his older brother instead of Matt
(because he was angry of course).
T.K. (to Tai): I'm so glad you're alive! I was worried. I was really worried about you.*
T.K. (to Tai): But when you and I get along, Onii-chan gets a nasty look on his face. Even when I told him we should look for you, he was against it! He started hating me because I kept talking about you, Taichi-san! Taichi-san I want to be your younger brother!**
Tai also acted like an older brother to him. Once when he fall Tai immediately helped him and asked him if he is okay. The difference between Tai and Matt's relationship with T.K. was that Tai wasn't really obsessed with him and he was really happy seeing him to grown-up. But Matt didn't like that a lot, because T.K. didn't need him anymore as he did in the beginning and because of that Matt thought that he is redundant.
In season 2, Tai and T.K. are still friends but I don't think that T.K. looks at Tai as he did in the first season. He isn't a crybaby anymore and I think that T.K. sees Tai as a friend and not an older brother anymore. The same stays in Digimon Tri movies. It's just funny how both Matt and Tai thinks of T.K. when dealing with "girl problems". In Last Evolution Kizuna their relationship stays the same. T.K. in more hanging out with Tai's sister Kari than with Tai himself. They see eachother a lot since they both participate in Digimon related stuff.
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.
** - Digimon Adventure; Episode 22 - Forget About It!
TAI YAGAMI AND KARI YAGAMI
Great family, great love... Tai is always there for Kari and so is Kari for her brother. They understand each other and they
were there for each other when they were already really young. Tai helped Kari all the time and she helped him. When Tai came
to the real world Kari had a cold and Tai took good care of her. He made her lunch (or breakfast?), checked the temperature and all that
stuff. When Kari took Koromon to the toilet she told him that Tai is a really good brother, that he had done a lot of stuff for her.
When she wet her bed Tai always helped her even if it was in the middle of the night and later he pretended that he was the one who
wet it.
Kari: I used to wet the bed a lot, but my brother would always help me. He'd wash my underwear for me in the middle of the night, and later he'd pretend he was the one who wet it. He's really nice.*
When Kari becomes a DigiDestined and goes to the digiworld, Tai always cares for her and is worried about her. Once she gets really sick and Tai was really worried. He even fought with Izzy, because he didn't find a medicine for Kari and later when he did, he was trying to find Kari. ~ They were separated. He remembered that once when Kari was sick Tai wanted to play soccer and Kari agreed with him. But because of that she got herself in a hospital because she never told Tai that she's not feeling well. Their parents were really mad at him at that time. But when Kari came out of the hospital she apologized to him, because she didn't kick the ball well.
Tai: That's the kind of girl she is. She's always thinking about other people before herself and she'll never tell anyone that she's in pain or having a hard time, even if it kills her!**
In the first season Tai and Kari always wanted to be near each other and together. But in season 2 that changed. They both are older now and they don't go to the same school and they probably don't have so much free time as they used to have. In one episode even T.K. told Kari to stop being Tai's little sister and that she should stop being dependent on him. But still they remain as a two loving brother and sister. In Digimon Tri they are still very close. It's like a normal brother-sister relationship. They were there for each other on sunny and rainy days. You can see her being totally destroyed when Tai "died". It made her unknowingly create the dark portal with corrupted digital code which only led to more destruction.
In Last Evolution Kizuna Tai moves out and lives alone so the two of them don't see eachother that often as before. They both still participate in Digimon related stuff where Kari reminds Tai to come home every here and then since their mother wants to see him a bit more. Their relationship isn't any different in the movie - they still care for eachother deeply.
In The Beginning, Kari mentions that she tried to call Tai, but he got upset and told her he's way too busy for small talk. So their relationship is like any other busy sibling relationship.

Season 02 Relationships
TAI YAGAMI AND DAVIS MOTOMIYA
Davis and Tai. I love their relationship. Tai knew Davis before Davis became one of the DigiDestined. They were both in the soccer club together.
Davis has Tai for an idol (of course he wants to please Tai for Kari too xD). And Tai also trusted Davis a lot (I'm still talking about their relationship before Digimon), because
Tai mentioned the digital world to Davis before. I mean, he wouldn't do that if he wouldn't trust him. I think that Tai gave his goggles to Davis so soon is because he knew him and
they are both very similar. They both want to save everything they can, they both love Kari (not in the same way!) are both stubborn and want to be everywhere. Davis is just like Tai from season 1.
Tai sometimes plays Davis's older brother and tells him what to do or not to do (or he just gave him some advice).
Davis is known as someone who doesn't have the smart speeches or ideas (at the beginning, in the end he has grown up so much!) and in episode 43 when Davis suggested that they should rest a little bit they were all looking at him really weird. Davis asked if he said something stupid and Tai answered him that that's the point - he said something good.
Tai: N-no ... you actually said something good for a change, Daisuke.*
Tai also thinks that Davis' hopeless, because he didn't notice how much Ken changed through the series. They all laught when Tai said that.
Tai: You're hopeless ... Well, I guess that's what makes you who you are.**
Davis is always there to help Tai. In the movie 4 Tai decided to go through the gate in the net to stop Diablomon and Davis wanted to go with him, but Tai thought that it would be better if he stayed in the real world and protect it. So yeah, they are like brothers.
In Digimon Tri the original DigiDestined didn't know that Davis, Ken, Yolei, and Cody were missing but they were all absent for a pretty long time. And still no one tried to contact them and no one really thought of them. I guess it has to be pretty normal for them to just disappear and don't stay in touch since no one was worried because of their absence.
In Last Evolution Kizuna we can see the two of them are still in a contact since Tai knew about Davis's plan for the future. Even in the Drama CD (bonus part for Last Evolution Kizuna) we see that Davis is organizing a trip and wants to invite Tai (and the other seniors) with them. I'm sure Davis still sees Tai as his idol (;Đ).
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.
** - Digimon Adventure; Episode 38 - Holy Night the Big Digimon Reunion!
TAI YAGAMI AND YOLEI INOUE
Yolei is like Izzy number 2. She's one of the most important person of the group. Tai and Yolei are friends, they get along. They helped eachother with Digimon stuff.
And that's it.
In Last Evolution Kizuna their relationship is probably the same as before since they are all still participating in Digimon activities.
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.
TAI YAGAMI AND CODY HIDA
Cody is the youngest of the whole group and he acts really mature for his age and Tai respects him.
In Last Evolution Kizuna their relationship is probably the same as before since they are all still participating in Digimon activities.
In The Beginning, it's mentioned that the 01 kids are very busy living their lives, so they are not in as much contact as they were when they were young.
TAI YAGAMI AND KEN ICHIJOUJI
Tai is there for Ken like others. They all wanted him to put his old self behind him and forgive himself for things he had done and to move on. They want him to help them
with good work and to protect the Digital World. So yeah, they're friends.
Digimon TRI Relationships
TAI YAGAMI AND MEIKO MOCHIZUKI
At first the two of them didn't really interact that much. Meiko was mostly hanging out with the girls and even though they were in the same school and in the same class they started to
bond more when they were in the digital world and Meiko was down all the time because of Meicoomon. Like the others Tai tried to console her over and over again and make her see that it's not
her fault for whats happening in the digital/real world. When she asked DigiDestined to kill Meicoomon who was out of control Tai was the only one who was ready to carry out her wish. And
in the end Tai was the one who called her after she moved back to Tottori to ask her if she got their Christmas presents and to tell her (together with Agumon) that they will always be friends.
TAI YAGAMI AND DAIGO NISHIJIMA
I also put Daigo on Tai's list because he had a lot of impact on Tai. When they just met he knew Daigo as his teacher who pushed him to think about his plans for the future. Through the whole
Digimon Tri arc Daigo was helping the kids as much as he could since he was a member of the Incorporated Administrative Agency. In the end when Tai and dying Daigo were trapped in a facility
Daigo sacrificed himself to save Tai and gave him his last advice to build up the future which made Tai to change his career path and started going to the prep school. Daigo had a lot of hopes for
Tai.
